The 2025 He-Young Kimm Cup marks the return of the World Han Mu Do Tournament to Baton Rouge, Louisiana! This premier event brings together Han Mu Do practitioners from across the country to test their skills, challenge their limits, and celebrate the art of Han Mu Do in a dynamic and supportive competition environment. Whether you are a seasoned black belt, a rising junior competitor, or a Little Dragon taking your first steps in competition, this tournament offers an unforgettable experience of camaraderie, discipline, and personal growth. Tournament Information – 2025 He-Young Kimm Cup

The 2025 He-Young Kimm Cup is the premier World Han Mu Do Tournament, bringing together students, instructors, and schools from across the country to showcase their skills and compete in a variety of events. This event provides an opportunity for competitors of all ages and ranks to test their training in a structured and supportive environment. Whether you are an experienced black belt or a first-time competitor, this tournament is a chance to challenge yourself, grow as a martial artist, and connect with the larger Han Mu Do community.

📍 Location: Glasgow Middle School, 1676 Glasgow Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70808
📅 Date: Saturday, March 29, 2025
⏰ Doors Open: 8:00 AM | Competition Begins: 9:00 AM

This event is hosted by the World Han Mu Do Association and sponsored by Black Eagle Martial Arts (Meridian, MS).

Who Can Compete?

The He-Young Kimm Cup is open to all students of Han Mu Do from Little Dragons (ages 4-6) to adult black belts. Competitors will be placed in age and rank divisions to ensure fair competition.

All competitors will have the chance to compete in multiple categories, allowing them to demonstrate the full range of their Han Mu Do training.

Competition Categories

Adult & Junior Divisions (Ages 7 & Up)

🔹 Hyung (Forms): Perform traditional Han Mu Do forms with precision and flow.
🔹 Muki Sool (Weapons Forms): Showcase your skill and control in weapon-based techniques.
🔹 Hoshin Sool (Self-Defense Demonstration): Demonstrate practical applications of Han Mu Do techniques.
🔹 Dae Ryun (Free Sparring): Test your strategy and execution in live matches.

Little Dragons Division (Ages 4-6)

🔹 Dragon Nak Sul (Falling): Safe and controlled falling techniques.
🔹 Dragons Jok Sool (Kicking): Demonstrating precision and power in kicks.
🔹 Dragon Hyung (Forms): Mastery of foundational movements and forms.
🔹 Dragon Tails (Sparring): A fun and controlled introduction to sparring.

Special Awards & Overall Champions

In addition to individual event medals, the tournament will recognize top competitors and schools with prestigious awards:

🏆 Busby Cup – Awarded to the highest-scoring adult competitor.
🏆 Spencer Cup – Awarded to the highest-scoring junior competitor.
🏆 Chung Chul Cup – Awarded to the highest-scoring black belt competitor.
🏆 Most Outstanding School Award – Recognizing the top-performing school in the tournament.

Registration & Fees

✅ Competitor Registration:

  • Early Bird Pricing: $75 (Available until March 8, 2025)

  • Regular Pricing: $85 (After March 8, 2025)

  • Final Registration Deadline: March 27, 2025 – No late registrations accepted.

✅ Spectator Fee:

  • $5 per person (ages 5 and up)

Volunteer Opportunities

The He-Young Kimm Cup relies on the support of volunteers to make the tournament a success! Volunteers receive FREE ENTRY and work in teams to assist in various event roles. Assignments are rotated so that everyone gets a chance to watch their competitors perform.

💪 Volunteer Roles Include:
✔ Door Staff – Assisting with check-in and event flow.
✔ Timekeeping & Scorekeeping – Helping run matches efficiently.
✔ Medical Support – Ensuring safety and readiness for competitors.
✔ Photography & Videography – Capturing the action for promotion and memories.
